Find That Film · Last updated: May 2026 · Dash-Apps
This Privacy Policy explains how Dash-Apps ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Find That Film mobile application ("the App"). We are committed to being transparent about our practices and protecting your privacy.
1. Information We Collect
Find That Film is designed to work without requiring you to create an account. We collect minimal information to provide the service:
- App preferences: Your selected streaming services, region, and watchlist are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. By default, this data never leaves your device.
- Shared watchlists (optional): If you choose to use the watchlist sharing feature, your watchlist data is uploaded to and stored on our Cloudflare Workers infrastructure. See Section 5 for full details.
- Search queries: When you search for a film or TV show, your query is sent to our caching proxy (hosted on Cloudflare) which forwards it to the Streaming Availability API to retrieve results. Search queries are not stored or linked to you personally.
- Advertising data: The free version of the App displays banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalised ads. Please see Google's Privacy Policy for more information.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information
- We do not require account registration
- We do not track your location
- We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes
- We do not store your watchlist on any server unless you explicitly enable the watchlist sharing feature
3. Third Party Services
The App uses the following third party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Streaming Availability API (Movie of the Night) — provides streaming availability data. Privacy Policy
- Cloudflare Workers — our caching proxy infrastructure. Privacy Policy
- Google AdMob — advertising network used in the free version. Privacy Policy
4. Advertising
The free version of Find That Film displays banner advertisements provided by Google AdMob. These ads may be personalised based on your interests using data collected by Google. You can opt out of personalised advertising by adjusting your device settings:
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation
Users who subscribe to the premium version of the App will not see advertisements. The subscription process is handled by the app store and does not require sharing personal information with us.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your watchlist, selected streaming services, and app preferences are stored locally on your device using React Native AsyncStorage. If you uninstall the App without enabling sharing, this data is permanently deleted and was never transmitted to any server.
5a. Shared Watchlists
Find That Film includes an optional feature that lets you share your watchlist with other people. This feature is entirely opt-in. When you create or join a shared list:
- What is stored: Film titles, film IDs, poster and metadata (sourced from the Streaming Availability API), watched status, and the timestamps of add/remove/watched actions are uploaded to our Cloudflare Workers KV store.
- Anonymous device ID: Each device is assigned a randomly generated anonymous identifier (UUID) at first launch. This ID is used to attribute changes to a device within a shared list (e.g. "added by Device A"). It is not linked to your name, email, or any other personal information.
- Who can access shared list data: Anyone who has your share code or link can view and contribute to the shared list. Treat your share code like a password — only share it with people you trust.
- Retention: Server-side shared list data persists as long as the list is actively used. The expiry window resets to 1 year each time a change is made, so a regularly updated list will not expire. If a list is completely inactive for a full year, all server-side data for it is automatically deleted. Your local watchlist on each device is never affected by expiry; it remains on your device regardless. To resume syncing after expiry you would simply create a new shared list. You can also leave a shared list at any time from within the App; your local data is retained on your device but no further updates are sent to the server.
- Leaving a shared list: Leaving a shared list stops your device from syncing, but data already uploaded (your previous watchlist actions) remains on the server until the 1-year TTL expires, as other participants may still be using the list.
If you do not use the watchlist sharing feature, no watchlist data is ever transmitted to or stored on any server.
6. Children's Privacy
Find That Film is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.
7. Changes to This Policy
